thrill is gone

when i was a kid i had a partridge family album that had a little q and a thing on the jacket with each of the "family" members. questions and answers like favorite food, color, song, etc. david cassidy said his favorite song was Thrill Is Gone by B.B. King. i had never heard of it but i remembered it and a few years later i tracked it down. i heard it on the radio the other day and it struck me how in singing it, it's obvious the thrill ain't gone, he doesn't really believe she'll be sorry someday, and he's nowhere near free of her spell, but he still wishes her well. that's how it sounds to me. that's how B.B. and i sing that song when we're alone in my car.
